Experience Can Count for Mature Age Students

There are many ways to secure a Bachelors Degree and nearly every university or college has a web site for taking classes online. Many in the Baby Boomer generation have returned to academics seeking to finish their education that they were unable to accomplish decades ago. There are many reasons for this among which is the growing unemployment statistics for people over fifty who are not yet able to retire or still a decade or more away from Social Security. Baby Boomers may feel that a Bachelors Degree can be part of a security net when coupled with decades of skills acquired through employment. One of the best sources I found to achieve my educational goals was the University of New York’s Excelsior College. They are also on the front lines with our military who gain college level credit for the multitude of military courses they receive for training. This includes military basic training that converts to college credits in Physical Education. There are more programs and opportunities available at Excelsior than any other college that I found.
